Grattan Smith, Chair of Tulgeen Group’s Board of Directors paid tribute to Derek’s tenacity and vision for Riverside Nursery and welcomed Mel into her new role.  Derek in turn acknowledged his team of Tim, Daniel, Sue and Mel and the supported employee team comprising Ross, Annie, Stephen, Bradley, Graham, Joel, Michelle, Shannon and regular volunteers Laurie and Jordan.  Derek  also made it very clear that he was the champion and driver of the vision for Riverside Nursery but it was a collective vision.

Beautiful Succulent Proteaceous Plants In Stock Right Now

prot4 prot2 prot3 prot5

A wide range of proteaceous plants are currently in stock at Riverside Nursery.  Drop in at 14 Taronga Crescent, Bega to view our range or call to discuss with our friendly team 6492 4151.

Proteaceous plants are to be found on every remnant of Gondwana. The family and its sub-families are thought to have diversified long before the break-up of Gondwana, so it is assumed that proteaceous species developed more than 90 mya. Part of the evidence is the amount of proteaceous pollen to be found in New Zealand coal deposits dating from the Cretaceous, 145mya to 64mya. New evidence however is complicating the picture as many species have developed rather more recently and are thought to have been dispersed across ever-widening ocean gaps, possibly via now-submerged island chains.

Thank you to Friends of Gondwana for the above information.

The Riverside Nursery had a great weekend at the Bega Field Days

Field Days 1  Field Days 2 Field Days 4      Field Days 5

Thanks to everyone who stopped by at our stall at the Bega Field Days and supported Riverside Nursery and our disability enterprise by purchasing something. We are sure your purchases will bring you years of pleasure.

So grateful for the wonderful community support we receive every day.

Welcome Spring!!

header_logo_southcoastfielddays

Spring is well and truly in the air here at Riverside Nursery. We have fresh plants coming in weekly and as quickly as they come in they seem to be walking out the gate. Lots of beautiful flowering natives and ornamentals. The heady smell of Boronia, the prolific flowering Micromyrtus and the abundance of colour in the annual display make visiting (and working at) the nursery a joy.

This weekend at the Bega Showgrounds is the South Coast Field Day. Tulgeen and Riverside Nursery are sponsors of this local biennial sustainable living event. Dan and Sue will be at a Riverside Nursery stall. Our stall will be doing a bit of cross promotion for all of our Disability Enterprises and Art in the Garage. Pop down and say hello, it is only $10 entry and there is always loads of interesting talks, exhibits and demonstrations to keep you interested, as well as delicious food available.

Happy Spring days to us all. May your soil be fertile and your garden flourishing and if it isn’t come and talk to us, we will get you heading in the right direction.
